LEROY- Illinois State Police say they believe that a man they had been searching for is safe, but they still want to talk to him as they investigate a crash in LeRoy.

State and local police used officers, police dogs and night vision equipment to lead a search for James Odom, 46, of Foosland after the Champaign County man reportedly ran away from the scene of a crash on Route 150 at about 10:30 p.m.

Police don't know why Odom left the scene.

Odom is described as a 5-foot-6 white man, 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and brown coat and a baseball cap.

Police are urging anyone with information about James Odom's whereabouts to call Illinois State Police District 6 headquarters in Pontiac at (815) 844-1500.
