BLOOMINGTON - The American Red Cross of the Heartland is celebrating its 20th annual Evening of the Stars event, and tickets are now on sale.
Headlining the event is Grammy winner Amy Grant. Executive Director Lyn Hruska said Grant was a wise choice for the event.
"She was a natural fit for a special event for us and because she is so connected with the Red Cross already," said Hruska.
Grant is a member of the American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet and has done public service announcements, appearances and fundraising on behalf of the agency.
In addition to Grant being a motivating factor for community members to support this year's Evening of the Stars, Hruska said the overall purpose of the fundraising event should be a motivating factor.
"The funds that we raise through this event help us take care of fire victims and collect blood so we can maintain a safe blood supply," said Hruska. "We also put money toward the military families in the community."
The goal for the fundraiser is to attract more than 900 people and raise $200,000.
Evening of the Stars will be held at the Marriot Hotel in Uptown Normal on April 17. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are now available for purchase online at archeartland.org
