Richard Lee Andes
Richard Lee Andes, 84, of Bloomington passed away 1:54 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Bloomington.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington with military rites accorded by the Bloomington -Normal American Legion Honor Guard. The Rev. John McIntosh will officiate. Private family burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials be made to the Community Cancer Center in Normal.
Richard was born April 10, 1928 in Maroa, Ill., the son of Harry and Gwendoline Hedger Andes. He married Joanne Graening on Aug. 12, 1951 in Pekin, Ill. She passed away Jan. 14, 2012.
Surviving are four children, Pamela (John) Hartman, Corona, NM,
Richard (Mary) Andes, Celebration, Fla., Diane (Roger) Andes Finney, Normal and David (Karen) Andes, Cheshire, Conn.; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marge Swartz. Denton, Texas and Beverly Baker, Denton; 2 brothers, Donald (Barbara) Andes, Payson, Ariz. and Larry (Judith) Andes, Aubrey, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, George Edwin Andes and Harry Andes, Jr.
Richard attended schools at Sibley and Clinton, Ill. He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years, and then graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1953. He was employed at State Farm Automobile Insurance Company, Bloomington and Columbia, Missouri for 39 years and was proud to have been among the earliest pioneers who installed the first electronic computer equipment in the State Farm Automobile Company.
He retired in 1990 as an Assistant Vice President in the Service and Systems Department. Richard organized the Blue Sky Investment Club. It has functioned continuously since 1970.
Richard enjoyed family gatherings, travel, sports and genealogy and volunteered at the McLean County Historical Society Museum and the United Way of McLean County. Imogene "Jean" Roberts
Imogene “Jean” Roberts, 81, of Hudson, Ill. passed away at 1:31 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at Meadows Mennonite Home in Chenoa, Ill.
Jean was born Nov. 1, 1931 in Fairbury to Harley and Thelma Hoover Boles. She married James “Red” Roberts June 17, 1972; he preceded her in death June 7, 2004.
She is survived by a stepson Bill (Staci) Roberts of Lexington, Ill.; 2 granddaughters, Angela (Chris) Cutler of Bloomington and Teresa (Jason) Kerr of Brentwood, Tenn.; a grandson, James Roberts of Bloomington; and 2 great-granddaughters, Jenna and Lauren Cutler.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Boles and a daughter Jean Dorman, and her husband Dick Dorman.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, and a prayer service will begin at 6:45 p.m. Cremation rites have been entrusted to East Lawn Funeral Home.
Jean worked as a bookkeeper in the Bloomington area for many years. Some of her favorite things were fishing, gardening and puzzles. And she enjoyed taking walks around the lake with her friends and spending time with her family.
