BLOOMINGTON - More than 1,500 Ameren customers were without power for 40 minutes Monday morning, thanks to a squirrel.

The outage was centered along and on the northeast side of Veteran's Parkway. It affected the traffic lights at Veterans and GE Road and Veterans and College. Ameren Spokeswoman Stacey Shangraw said the outage was the result of a squirrel on the lines.

Everyone had been restored by 9:40 a.m.
