BLOOMINGTON - An apartment fire in Bloomington has left thirteen residents looking for shelter just before Christmas.

The blaze started at the Holiday Park Apartments at 1412 East Croxton Avenue Friday morning. The fire was spotted by a painter, Sebert Crose, who phoned in the first call to authorities.  Several more calls came in minutes later.

Bloomington Fire Public Information Officer Brad McCullom said six units were destroyed as wind contributed to the spread.

According to McCullom, a fire wall kept the flames from spreading to other buildings in the complex. The American Red Cross of the Heartland and Normal Fire Department units assisted on scene. No injuries are being reported.

The fire was first reported at around 11:15 a.m. The cause of the fire is yet unknown but appears to have started at the northwest corner of the building on the third floor.  The incident remains under investigation.
