BLOOMINGTON - Managers of the David Davis Mansion have said it is hard to tell if the Lincoln movie has brought more visitors, but a recent article in Midwest Living has.
"In one case a lady called, and it's not uncommon for them to call and say, How to I get to you?' We asked, 'Where are you coming from?' And, she said she was coming from Iowa," Assistant Site Manager Jeannie Riordan said.
The article in the February edition is about President Lincoln birthday celebrations.
"Shamefully for us, Midwest Living had it out before our own website had it. We've since updated our website with the proper information," Riordan said.
President Lincoln's birthday falls on Tuesday, Feb. 12, so the mansion will have the celebration on Saturday, Feb. 9. The mansion will be filled with re-enactors including President Lincoln telling stories. There will also be cake and lemonade.
Davis rode the eleventh judicial circuit with Lincoln, helped him win the presidency and was appointed as a judge to the U.S. Supreme Court.
