BLOOMINGTON - A murder charge has been filed against the 17-year-old suspect in the Danbury Court apartments shooting.

A McLean County grand jury returned the indictment this week. Carroll has already been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, involuntary manslaughter, possession of a stolen firearm and two other counts related to using the stolen gun.

Carroll is accused of shooting 16-year-old Kuantrae Massey at the apartments on Jan. 21. Massey later died at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Carroll is currently being held at the McLean County Jail on a $500,000 bond. But, McLean County Assistant State's Attorney Bill Workman said Friday he has filed a motion to increase Carroll's bond.

"Now that we have information of an intentional homicide, we're asking that it increase," he said.

Carroll will be arraigned on Feb. 26.
