Rodger Ehlers
Roger D. Ehlers, age 83 of Normal, Ill. passed away 3:07 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, Ill.. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home. Pastor Thomas C. Wirsing will officiate. Entombment will be at East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington, Ill. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the McLean County Nursing Home or Advocate BroMenn Hospice program.
Roger was born Aug. 8, 1929 in Old Town Township, Ill. the son Carl F. and Malinda Timke Ehlers. He married Betty J. Flanagan on June 4, 1950, in LeRoy, Ill. She passed away Nov. 15, 2008.
Surviving Ehlers are three children, Larry (Taty) Ehlers of Bloomington, Debra (Paul) Hankins of Henry, Ill., and Connie (Keith) Clifford of Normal. He has eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
Ehlers owned & operated Rocket Termite and Pest Control, Bloomington for 25 years retiring in 1985. He was an avid Cubs Fan. He raced stock cars for a number of years. He enjoyed going to ‘the boat’ in Peoria, Ill. The family would like to thank the staff on the 200 wing at the McLean County Nursing home for the care and compassion shown to Roger and his family. Eugene Kessler
Eugene D. Kessler, 88 of Bloomington, Ill. died Wednesday, Oct. 31 at his home. A graveside inurement will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at Funks Grove Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Barbara Wooldridge will officiate. There will be no visitation.
Kessler has two surviving sons, Michael (Dianna) Kessler of Shirley, Ill. and Rickey (Nancy) Kessler of McLean, Ill. Kessler also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert and Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, Ill. His obituary can be viewed at Calvertmemorial.com.
