Eli Edward "Butch" Chupp

Eli Edward “Butch” Chupp, 54, of Bloomington, died at 11:21 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at his home.

He will be cremated according to his wishes and interment will be at a later date. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Monica Craig, 1012 10th St, Bloomington, IL 61704.

Eli was born on Jan. 26, 1958 in Akron, Ohio, the son of Eli and Dolores Kowal Chupp.

He is survived by his father, of Hartville, Ohio; siblings, Monica (Mike) Craig, Bloomington, Amanda (Jeff) Childers, Suffield, Ohio, Joe (Brenda) Chupp, Louisville, Ohio and Angel Chupp, Westlake, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and his best friend, Jeff Cunningham, Canton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Butch graduated from Akron North High School in 1976 and has worked in food service for many years.

Robert L. "Bob" Hopkins

Bob HopkinsRobert “Bob” Leroy Hopkins, 71, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Chapel in Bloomington with Pastor Mark Wallace officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday 10-11 a.m. prior to services. The family of Robert has entrusted Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with the care of their loved one.

Bob was born Aug. 21, 1941 in Alton, Ill. to the union of William and Lessie (Miller) Thompson. He married Bonita J. Crumbley on Sept. 25, 1993 in Bloomington. She survives.

In addition to his wife Bonita, Bob is survived by his children, April Walker and husband Charles of Puyallup, Wash. and their children; Bridgette Ware and husband Richard and child of Sheboygan, Wis.; Crystal Hopkins and children of Tacoma, Wash.; Denita Watts and husband Tony and child of Phoenix, Ala.., Elke Hill and child of St. Louis; Robert Matthew Hopkins of Bloomington; Raina L. Hopkins and children of Atlanta, Ga.; Davis Hopkins and Wife Kristi and children of Lexington, Ill.; Jason L. Hopkins of Bloomington; Nedra L. Hopkins of Osceola, Iowa; Justin L. Hopkins of DeKalb,Ill. and David Kaiser, beloved godson of Bloomington.

A host of 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive along with Aunt Mary Brown, Uncle Sims and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his and Bonita’s two infant children, Cassia and Robert LeRoy Hopkins, Jr. and several of his grandchildren.

Bob graduated from Alton High School. He was employed at Eureka Williams Factory and General Grocer Company for several years. He worked for BroMenn Adult Day Care for 22 years retiring in 2008. After his retirement, Bob worked for Mayors Manor for four years. He also owned and operated House of Sounds Record Store in Bloomington for nine years.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964 and was stationed in Vietnam, Korea, Greenland, Okinawa, West Virginia, and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

He was a member of Crossroads Chapel in Bloomington where he served the church and loved to sing.

Bob was an avid sports fan especially football and basketball. He enjoyed history, politics and also reading. He loved watching old black and white movies along with his hats, clothes, big automobiles, and good food. His favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Bob’s passion was music; he loved singing Gospel Music and the Blues. He was a professional singer in the 1950’s and founded a band called the Five Du-Tones and had a well known song “Shake a Tail Feather”. After this he sang at various churches and at Crossroads Chapel. Bob also sang in the U.S. Military with various R&B Groups.

He was deeply loved by his family and will be sadly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or to Crossroads Chapel in Bob’s name.

Anna Mae Lusher

Anna LusherAnna Mae Lusher, 78, of Bloomington, passed away at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Allen Steinbeck officiating. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the family.

Anna Mae was born on July 12, 1934 in Bloomington to Harold and Mary (Quinn) Hall. She married James R. Lusher on Aug. 30, 1959 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1973.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Donovan and Karen Lusher both of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Courtney Lusher, Amber Thompson, Jared Murrell, Zachary Mason, Chris Lusher, Chelsea Lusher and Jordan Murrell all of Bloomington; one great grandson Armoni Bennett of Bloomington; one sister, Agnes (Fred) Rousey; two brother-in-laws, Jerry (Cora Nelle) Lusher, Judson (Ann) Lusher and sister-in-law, Jane Freeman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles Hall and Harold Hall.

She retired from Advocate BroMenn in 1999 as a housekeeper and then worked at Walmart in the bakery from 2002-2007.

Anna Mae enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events, babysitting her great grandson and spending time with her family that meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Geneva E. Mau

Geneva MauGeneva E. Mau, 80, of Bloomington passed away at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at her residence.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church were services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Allen Steinbeck officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Bloomington.

She was born Nov. 10, 1932 in Delevan a daughter of Corbett and Opal (Spracklen) Tabor. She married William Mau on April 26, 1952 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1977.

Survivors include her children, William R. "Willy" Mau, Jr. of Bloomington; Ronald R. (Janet) Mau, of Davenport, Iowa; Debra A. Hawkins of Omaha, Neb.; Tami R. (Darrell Hughes) Draper of Bloomington and Susette L. (Nicholas Sr.) Halbert of St. David, IL; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five sisters, Esther Williams of Danville, Doris Collins of Stateline, Ind.; Joyce (Dewey) Varboncouer of Tuscon, Ariz.; Wanda Galey of Danville, and Linda (Harry) Schrader of Sun Prarie,Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son in law, three brothers and one sister.
