The Green Sanctuary Committee of the Unitarian Universlist Church, 1613 E. Emerson, Bloomington, is hosting an educational event on fracking: October 9th at 7:00 PM. We will show "Split Estate," an award winning documentary on the development of fracking in the Rocky Mountain States where there has been large-scale development of fracking for more than a decade. The documentary will be followed by open discussion. Resource materials will also be available.

This event is timely because the Land Use Committee of the McLean County Board has received requests from the oil and gas industry to replace "special use" permiting with an easier permitting process that does not allow a public voice during the review of a permit.

We are located immediately west of St. John's Lutheran Church, which is at the corner of Emerson and Towanda.
