I saw this painted on the wall at Crossroads, located in downtown Bloomington ... something to think about as people raise money for the earthquake survivors. 

There are a lot of items from Haiti in the store. When you buy them, the Haitian artisans directly benefit. Here are a few items I found:

Help Haiti - Eastview Christian Church

First Church of the Nazarene - 
Members Kelcey & Kevin Bradley own the Dairy Queen
on S. Main St.  They're going to donate $1
from each Blizzard sold Jan. 29.
&
On Jan. 31 an offering will be taken in both morning services.
100% will go to Haiti earthquake relief efforts.

Puppet Play Time for Haiti Relief
 Children can bring in their puppets or use the group's 
Saturday, Jan. 30    1 pm - 5 pm
Sunday, Jan. 31    1 pm - 5 pm
at the Bank of Illinois - Community room (4th floor)
200 West College Avenue in Uptown Normal
Parking is free for the first hour in the adjacent parking garage.
There is no charge for this event.
Donations will be accepted for Haiti Relief!


Trinity Lutheran in Bloomington - Collect food & personal items
Drop off nonperishable food, bottled water, first aid supplies
and personal hygiene products at 801 S. Madison Street



 Midwest Food Bank - Sisters Mission Outreach in Haiti
Help gather items for hygiene kits for future shipments.
 
Health Kits Include: 

  • 1 Hand towel (not finger-tip or kitchen size)
  • 1 Wash cloth
  • 1 comb (regular size, not pocket size, no rat tail combs, no barber combs.)
  • 1 finger nail clipper or file (no emery boards)
  • 1 bar of soap ( 3.5oz. Or larger in original wrapper)
  • 1 toothbrush (in original wrapper)
  • 1 tube of toothpaste (3.5 oz or larger in original wrapper) Check expiration dates-must be at least ONE YEAR
  • 6 adhesive bandages (Band aids; no picture or colors, regular size and wrapped in a rubber band)
  • Wrap the items in the hand towel. Items may be placed in a one-gallon plastic zip enclosure bag.   
Congratulations to our WJBC Globetrotter Ball Kid!

11-year-old Abby Dittus will meet the team.  She also wins a VIP package to remember her experience working the Globetrotter bench.  Her aunt, Becky Barnes, nominated Abby for the good work she does caring for her disabled counsin.  Becky writes, "Abby is a life saver for me.  She has a gift..."   Have fun Abby!
