U.S. Rep. Halvorson says subsidies offer a safety net for farmers.

Congresswoman Debbie Halvorson says federal subsidies for large-scale farmers are needed to keep prices stable.
The Democrat from Crete supported a budget resolution last week that passed both chambers of Congress on a mostly party-line vote. Halvorson says members of the House agriculture committee made sure that subsidies were not removed for farmers with annual revenue of more than $500,000 -- which President Obama has proposed.
