Grant will boost local foreclosure counseling program

Hundreds of homes in McLean County are facing foreclosure.

Money from the federal government will give a local organization's foreclosure prevention counseling efforts a boost.   Mid Central Community Action's Director of Housing Development Rick Barrera says the $27,180 grant allows them to provide the much needed counseling for free.

Barrera says the services are not based on income, so anyone facing foreclosure can call Mid Central Community Action for counseling. Realtytrac.com shows McLean County has about 600 properties in preforeclosure or bank owned.
