White urges minorities to become organ donors
7/17/2010 8:16:00 AM
By: The Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) - Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is encouraging blacks and other minorities to become organ and tissue donors.
National Minority Donor Awareness Day is Aug. 1 and White wants people to learn more about why it's important to be an organ or tissue donor. White says a single donor can save the lives of up to 25 people. People can sign up to be a donor by calling the secretary of state's office, visiting their website or one of their offices.
