The Illinois House wants to change the way political parties select their candidates for lieutenant governor. The House voted Friday to nominate candidates for governor and lieutenant governor together instead of letting voters pick each nominee separately. Governor Quinn says the opportunity to choose a new nominee for lieutenant governor is highly unusual. The measure comes after Illinois Democrats were embarrassed in last month's primary election. The nominee for lieutenant governor, Scott Lee Cohen, wound up being a pawnbroker who had been arrested for domestic violence.
