MORTON – A Metamora woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash Tuesday on Interstate 74.

Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley said Taylor Lynn Rudd, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene around 1:15 p.m.  Preliminary autopsy results indicate the cause of death was head injuries, according to Hanley.

The crash involving two semi-trucks and a passenger car happened in the eastbound lanes of I-74 near Morton around noon.

Illinois State Police ticketed Mark Elbus, 62, of Kewanee, for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

ISP and the coroner’s office are still investigating the crash.

The crash closed eastbound I-74 for several hours.  ISP directed traffic onto US 150.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
