PEKIN – A woman died Sunday after she was found unresponsive in her cell at the Tazewell County Jail, according to authorities.
Sarah Seybold, 41, was found unresponsive at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a release by the Sheriff’s Office Monday morning. She was then transported to UnityPoint Health-Pekin by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead just before 9 p.m.
Seybold, according to the release, was in jail after being arrested by the East Peoria Police Department on charges of possession of a controlled substance. She was booked into jail at 10:26 a.m. Sunday.
The Tazewell County Coroner and Illinois State Police are conducting the investigation.
