Week 6 football recap: Ironmen turn back Raiders

A strong third quarter sent Normal Community to a rivalry win over Bloomington in the featured game in the Week 6 WJBC Friday Night High School Football Extravaganza.

Normal Community 43, Bloomington 26: The host Ironmen lead 16-8 at halftime but outscored the Purple Raiders 20-6 in the third quarter on the way to the win. Aiden Oliver led Normal Community (5-1, 5-0 Big Twelve) with four rushing touchdowns and one passing TD while Cameron Jackson rushed 14 times for 111 yards and a touchdown. Ben Wellman was 18-for-30 passing for 275 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions for Bloomington (3-3, 3-2) with Eric Johnson catching four passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Jack Weltha led the BHS defense with nine tackles.

Central Catholic 45, St. Joseph-Ogden 18: Jack Slaughter churned out 203 yards on 18 carries and four touchdowns for Central Catholic (2-4) with 121 yards in the first quarter alone. St. Thomas More falls to 1-5.

U-High 56, Springfield Southeast 48: Spencer Parker exploded for 409 rushing yards and five touchdowns plus a 29-yard touchdown catch in the second straight win for U-High (2-4). Southeast dropped to 1-5.
