Bloomington man charged in domestic violence incident, two officers injured

BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man remains in the McLean County jail on a high bond after allegedly abusing a female victim and running away from BPD, resulting in two officer injuries.

BPD said officers responded to a domestic violence incident around 6 p.m. in the 1300 block of Hershey Rd. on Tuesday.

Once on the scene, officers kicked in the apartment door to help the victim. BPD says Jared Bieniek, 33, of Bloomington, allegedly climbed out of a window and escaped on foot.

BPD said while chasing Bieniek two officers were injured. One officer suffered minor injuries, while the other suffered a serious knee injury.

The officers located and then arrested Bieneik.

Bieniek was charged with aggravated domestic battery, unlawful restraint, two counts of resisting a police officer with Injury, two counts of domestic battery, and two counts of resisting a police officer.

Bieniek remains in the McLean County Jail on a $15,035 cash bond.
