Police continue to investigate burglary spree in Kenney

KENNEY – The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a series of burglaries that happened early Monday in Kenney.

Sheriff Mike Walker said the incidents occurred sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Monday and included burglaries of 10 vehicles, two businesses – Excel Railcar Corporation and the elevator, and one vacant residence. There were also two vehicles stolen, but both have been located.

The sheriff’s office Tuesday said blood was found at one of the businesses and traces of blood were found in one of the burglarized vehicles.

Walker said police are still investigating how many suspects were involved and additional items stolen during the spree.

Assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation is the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.
