BLOOMINGTON- Matthew DeWayne Messamore, 60, of Bloomington, passed away at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home.

His memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday April 25th at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Matt was born December 3, 1958 in Bloomington, the son of Verl DeWayne and Georgina Mary Lanier Messamore.

He is survived by three children, Mindy (Robert L. Kline) Messamore of LeRoy, Brock (Shayla) Messamore of Clarksville, TN and Taylor (Nick) Hiltbrand of Bloomington; five siblings, Mark (Rebecca) Messamore of Minonk, Brian (Tamie) Messamore of Greenwood, IN, Kathy (Rick) Oltman of Hudson, Karen (Kurt) Lindenbaum of Owatonna, MN and Jason (Kate) Messamore of Palm Harbor, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Matt graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1977, where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball, baseball and football.  He was a member of Laborer’s Local #362, Bloomington and Finishers Local 18, Springfield.  Matt was an avid Chicago Cub fan, enjoyed golf and was quite the jokester. He had a big heart, was extremely proud of his children and loved spending time with his grand dogs (Champ, Tinley, Adrian, and Oakley).  Matt will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
