BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington-based maker of Beer Nuts is closing its store at the Shoppes of College Hills later this month so the company can focus on boosting online sales.
BEER NUTS Brand Snacks announced Thursday evening that the final day of business at the location in Normal will be Monday, January 28.
The company’s news release does not indicate how many jobs might be lost by the closure.
Beer Nuts will continue to be sold at the company’s home office and factory, located at 103 N. Robinson St., at the intersection of Robinson and Washington Streets in Bloomington.
In a statement, Beer Nuts President Andy Shirk said the company tries to capitalize on sales and distribution channels with the most significant growth potential. E-commerce is where the growth is happening, according to Shirk.
“The store closing will allow us to allocate greater resources and focus to support our accelerating online growth. We will still provide a local option at our original Company Store located inside our home office,” Shirk said in a prepared statement.
“Our dedication to producing our famous snacks in the Bloomington-Normal community will continue, with hopes you’ll continue snacking with us for many more years to come,” Shirk also said.
BEER NUTS Brand Snacks is in its 66th year of business in the Twin-Cities.
