NORMAL – Illinois State junior guard TeTe Maggett has swept the Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball weekly awards.

Maggett receives the Valley’s Newcomer of the Week honor for the second straight week and the third time in the last four weeks, and takes her first Player of the Week award. It’s the eighth time in Valley history that a player has swept the weekly honors.

Maggett registered a career-high 24 points with seven rebounds and two assists in Sunday’s 62-55 win at UMKC. She shot 46 percent from the field and made both of her three-point attempts, plus was 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Maggett has scored in double figures in nine of the Redbirds’ 11 games and averages 15.1 points per game.

The Redbirds open conference play this Friday at 7 p.m. at Redbird Arena against UNI followed by another home date Sunday at 2 p.m. against pre-season favorite Drake. Both can be heard on AM 1230 WJBC and WJBC.com.

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
