SPRINGFIELD– It’s harder to imagine an odder couple than President Trump and Vice President Pence.

Pence headlined a fund-raiser Friday in Springfield for U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville).

“I’ve seen them work together personally,” Davis told WJBC News. “You know, they get along well. Look, President Trump is the first president in our lifetime who has not had government or military experience. The American people wanted somebody different, and they’ve
got somebody who does not follow the same presidential protocols as past presidents.”

Davis says Pence, a former Indiana congressman and governor, asked Davis a few weeks ago what he could do to help – and Pence tried to do it Friday.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
