Margaret Tinges

Margaret Ann Tinges, 89, of Fairbury, passed away at 7:43 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa with Pastor Edward Huddleson officiating. Interment will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa; and 10-10:45 a.m., Thursday, prior to the funeral at the church in Chenoa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa, SELCAS of Fairbury or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Margaret was born December 17, 1928 in Eppards Point Twp., IL; the daughter of Roy A. and Christine E. (Roeseller) Jacobs. She married Ronald W. Tinges on February 19, 1949 in Chenoa.  Her husband preceded her in death on September 23, 2000.  Her parents and one daughter-in-law, Diane Tinges, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Kathy) Tinges of Southlake, TX; Darryl (Lorri) Tinges of Fairbury; Jay (Debbie Terrell) Tinges of Marion; six grandchildren, Jason Tinges of Southlake, TX; Christine (Mick) Villers of Flower Mound, TX; Carra Tinges of Chicago; Jesse Tinges of Pontiac; Robert (Megan) Casper of Kappa; and Amy (Jason) Bauman of Chenoa; five great-grandchildren and two sister in-laws, Shirley Stymiest of Manville and Sally Kauffman of Chenoa.

Margaret was a graduate of Chenoa Community High School and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville.

Margaret was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school and was the Sunday school treasurer for many years, She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, was one of the original members of the Eppards Point Twp. Women’s Sunshine Club, and a lifelong member of the Chenoa Historical Society. Margaret was an Avon representative for 46 years and qualified for the President’s Club for 35 consecutive years in the business.

She was awarded the Pontiac Business and Professional Women’s Club “Woman of the Year” in 1980. She was loved to the end of her days and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
