BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan University wrapped up its sixth annual “All in for Wesleyan” campaign with almost $715,000.
The theme for the 24-hour campaign was “Think Bigger,” encouraging students to think outside the box and reach for high goals in their personal and academic lives.
The students weren’t the only ones who benefited from the theme.
Illinois Wesleyan’s John Twork says the university exceeded its goal in each category. The total goal was $700,000, with $714,533 raised. A total of 2,193 donors donated, surpassing the goal of 2,000.
“Not only is it a day of fund raising, but it’s also really a day of spreading the word about Illinois Wesleyan and why it’s so important to so many people,” Twork said. “On Facebook our reach was 81,439. That’s just on Facebook alone.”
Donors had the option of deciding where their money went.
“President Eric Jensen and Elizabeth Jensen gave $20,000 specifically in support of diversity initiatives and inclusiveness,” Twork said. “They encouraged others to do the same.”
The Wesleyan Fund was the most common option. The school had gifts from 47 states and eight countries.
