Yarbrough named MVC Newcomer of Year

NORMAL – An Illinois State Redbird is this year’s Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year in men’s basketball.

Milik Yarbrough is a junior who transferred from St. Louis to join the Redbirds this season. He becomes the sixth Redbird to earn the Valley’s Newcomer award.

Yarbrough leads the Birds in scoring at 16.7 points per game and assists with 4.8 per contest, and is second in rebounding averaging 6.6.

Yarbrough was also named to the Valley’s first team today while teammate Phil Fayne was placed on the second team.

Loyola’s Clayton Custer was voted the conference’s Larry Bird Player of the Year.
