Illinois Wesleyan stifles Millikin to keep CCIW lead

DECATUR – Colin Bonnett scored 15 points to lead three Titans in double figures in scoring as Illinois Wesleyan used air-tight defense to win at Millikin, 65-56, to maintain a one game lead in the final week of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin race.

The No. 23 Titans (18-5, 11-3 in the CCIW) held the Big Blue to 35 percent field goal shooting as IWU raced out to an early 11-3 lead. The Titans stretched the lead to 34-24 at halftime.

Jason Gregoire connected with Bonnett on consecutive assists for layups as the Titans increased the lead to 59-41 in the second half to help seal the win.

Brady Rose added 14 for the Titans. Alex O’Neill scored 11 for IWU.

The Titans visit Carthage on Saturday.
