NORMAL – The Town of Normal will open registration for its two organic community gardens at on March 13 at 8:30 a.m. for Normal residents only. Non-residents may begin on March 15 at 8:30 a.m.
The community gardens are located at Ironwood Park, 1900 N. Linden, and at One Normal Plaza, 1110 Douglas St.
Open garden plots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be at the Normal Parks and Recreation office at 100 E. Phoenix Ave.
Online registration is not available. Garden plots are limited to only one per family.
Gardeners will have the opportunity to renew their plot from last season. All plot sizes are available for renewal. This opportunity is only offered to Town of Normal residents and limited to one per family. For those wishing to renew their plot must do so before the end of the business day on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Normal Parks and Recreation office.
Town Park maintenance staff tilled both gardens last fall and they will be tilled once more prior to the start of the 2018 gardening season. Participants may begin gardening in their assigned plots no earlier than April 7. All plots must be cleared out by November 5.
