BLOOMINGTON  – About 150 State Farm employees are moving out of the company’s downtown Bloomington building as the insurer says it will no longer utilize the nearly nine-decade old facility as office space.

All employees still housed in the company’s downtown building will be moving to other buildings, but will remain in Bloomington. The move will happen by the end of January, as the company has renovations done on the building. However, spokeswoman Missy Dundov says the employees won’t return when the work is done but will move to other locations.

The company is not sure what the future of the building is, but it is not for sale right now.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
