Antique Willys vehicles visiting Pontiac

By Cynthia Grau

PONTIAC – Several antique vehicles and their owners are spending their Tuesday in Pontiac.

Willys Overland Knight Registry is coming to Pontiac today, giving the public a chance to meet them and learn about their passion about Willys car models ranging from 1910 to 1939.

Pontiac Tourism Director Ellie Alexander explained that the international club exceeds 5,300 members.

“Some of (the cars) don’t even have lights on them yet, they have the old brass lighting,” Alexander said. “They’re coming up to spend the day with us. They’re going to be visiting museums, taking trolley tours, eating lunch. We’re just happy they’re going to spend the day with us.”

The public is invited to visit downtown Pontiac this evening to view the cars and talk to the members about their passion for their vehicles.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
