Edwina BowmanEdwina Bowman

Colfax – Edwina Bowman, 92, of Colfax, passed away at 3 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax. Pastor Ed Hudelson will be officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Colfax.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital of Chicago or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Edwina was born April 19, 1924 in Springfield, the daughter of Edwin and Mercedes Bratton Redding.

She married Lee Bowman on November 25, 1939 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away on May 20, 2004.

Surviving are four daughters, Sharon Bowman of Colfax , Carol (Russ) Stephenson of Colfax, Gail Devore of Lexington, and Marcia (Jim) Walters of Merrimac, WI; son, Lonnie (Serita) Bowman of Colfax; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-laws, Bernadine Brandt of Gibson City and Muriel Winterland of Dora, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Henry Redding, Harry Winterland and Tommy Redding; son-in-law, Clyde Devore; grandson, Christopher Devore; sister-in-law, Ilene Redding; and brother-in-law, Edmund Brandt.

Edwina devoted her life to working side by side with her husband while raising her children. She loved spending time with family and friends, her greatest joy were her kids and grandkids. Her home and her heart were always open for anyone to stop by for a meal or her famous pies.

Edwina retired from Ridgeview School District in 1994 after driving a school bus for 35 years. She loved the children on her bus route and always made sure they had treats for special occasions. Edwina was a very special lady and considered an angel here on Earth by all who knew her. She went home to be with her Savior.

Robert GoodinRobert Goodin

Chenoa – Robert R. Goodin, 76, of Chenoa, died Nov. 26, 2016 at 6:55 p.m., at his residence in Chenoa.

Cremation rites have been accorded and per Bob’s request a Graveside Inurnment will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at the Chenoa Township Cemetery, Chenoa; with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating and Military presentation by Chenoa VFW Post 8350.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa will be assisting the family with the arrangements of the service. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa.

Bob was born December 14, 1939 in Pontiac the son of James W. and Mary (Bauman) Goodin. He married Patricia Saffer on December 28, 1965 in Chenoa. She preceded him in death December 26, 2007. He later married Janet Trost on July 7, 2008. She survives in Chenoa.

Also surviving are one brother, Larry (Gloria) Goodin of Aurora; step daughter, Lisa (Kurt) Miller of Chenoa; 3 step- grandchildren, Noah, Annaliese, and Jonah Miller all of Chenoa; sister in-law, Donna Saffer of Chenoa; 3 nephews, Mark (Elizabeth ) Goodin, David (Gina) Goodin and Scott (Akiko) Saffer; and six great nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother in-law, Robert Saffer and nephew Rodney Saffer.

Bob was a graduate of Chenoa High School and later served our country from 1961 to 1967 in the U.S. Army. Bob was past owner and operator of Chenoa Rt. 66 Antique Shop and Goodin Texaco Station. He currently owned and operated Goodin Used Cars in Chenoa and has for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dorothy HublyDorothy H. Hubly

Chatsworth – Dorothy H. Hubly, 85, of Chatsworth, passed away at 10:55 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

A funeral mass for Dorothy will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at St.’s Peter Paul Catholic Church, Chatsworth. Fr Richard Brunskill will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Chatsworth.

Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.

Dorothy was born January 8, 1931, in Chatsworth the daughter of Raymond and Norma Gillette Martin.

She married Robert Hubly on September 16, 1950, in Chatsworth. He passed away on Oct. 22, 2003.

Surviving are her children, Diane (Mark) Kerber of Chatsworth, Dan (Jackie) Hubly of Naperville, Denise (Barry) Corban of Fairbury, and Debra (James) Corban of Greeley, CO; seven grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Kerber, Jeff Kerber, Jenna (Colin) Vaughan, Kaley (Ryan) Hix, Kimberly Corban and Craig Corban; seven great-grandchildren, Colter, Violet, Sawyer, Kaiya, Wyatt, Charlotte and Ethan; three sisters, Dolores (Charles) Haberkorn of Chatsworth, Carol (Lloyd) Aberle of Fairbury, and Shirley (Erwin) Krumwiede of Beardstown.

Her parents and one granddaughter, Sherry Kerber preceded her in death.

After high school Dorothy worked for Citizens Bank of Chatsworth from 1948-1951. She then proudly farmed with her husband for many years in the Chatsworth area.

Dorothy enjoyed bowling and golfing. She also enjoyed cooking, entertaining and traveling with her husband and friends.

Dorothy and her husband had a strong and hard work ethic and proudly sent all four of their children to college.

She will be very missed as a genuine matriarch of her family where her life and loved was given to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Louise Pick

Louis Pick

Louise Wozniak Pick, 88, of Highland, Ill.; formerly of Chenoa, Ill.; passed away on Thursday Nov. 24, 2016.

Louise was Born November 1, 1928 in Chicago, Ill.; a daughter to Cecilia Sawicki and Steven Sylvester Wozniak. She married Howard Ray Pick on Feb. 11, 1950 in Chicago. He preceded her in death. Her parents, two brothers, Norbert and Eugene also preceded her in death.

Louise and Howard lived in Central Illinois where they raised four daughters: Nancy Ellen (Mike) Stedman, Beverley Anne (Richard) Winston, Diane Rae (Marty Tipsord) Pick, and Marguerite Mae (Brett) Leman.

She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Diane Stedman- Martin, Cathy Stedman, Betsy (Keith)Hawley, Emiley (Jason) Steffes, Katie Leman, Ben Leman, and 5 great grandchildren: Ainsley Martin, Gracie Steffes, Ruthie Steffes, Jack Hawley, and Sarah Hawley.

Louise was the Chenoa High School Secretary before retiring and moving to Lake Placid, FL. She decorated many wedding, graduation, anniversary and birthday cakes. She also liked to paint. After moving to Florida she began China painting serving as club president and Secretary of the Lake Placid China Painting club. She enjoyed volunteering in the nursery and rocking the babies at Desoto Memorial Hospital, Arcadia, FL. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with a visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Autism Speaks.

Carson Rassi

Carson David Rassi was stillborn at 1:33 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City, Ill. Another precious angel God has called home to the arms of Jesus to help us long for that sweet rest above.

A private family service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with the ministers of the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Surviving are his parents, Denver and Sharon Rassi, 2 brothers, Cayden and Brendal, 1 sister, Kenna all of Forrest, maternal grandmother, Brenda Mueller, Colfax, maternal grandfather, Morris Kaeb, Fairbury, paternal grandparents, Dennis and Diane Rassi, Bastrop, Tx., maternal great grandmother, Mary Slagel, Fairbury.

Carson is preceded in death by an infant sister.
