BLOOMINGTON – It’s been a relatively mild fall, but it’s been a busy time for insurance claims adjusters following some recent storms in Central Illinois and along the East Coast.

State Farm and Country Financial have processed more than 45,000 home and auto claims stemming from Hurricane Matthew, which battered the southeast in late October and caused nearly 50 deaths.

The two companies also have been dealing with claims from storms in Central Illinois. State Farm spokeswoman Missy Dundov said the company has handled more than 2,000 damage claims in Peoria, Tazewell and McLean counties.

“We’re mainly seeing it and McLean and Tazewell counties,” said Dundov. “We saw a lot of (auto) damage, but we did see it on homes too.”

Country Financial reported it has processed more than 23,000 claims, including 650 reports of hail damage in Central Illinois.

Dundov also said State Farm has a temporary mobile facility in East Peoria to process damage claims.

“You’ll drive up. We’ll inspect the damage and right there you get your check,” she added. “That way you have the money to make the repairs quickly or if you need to delay it to make it convenient for yourself.”
