Lois Jane Brandenburg, 80 of Normal, passed away at 3:42 a.m. on Sept. 10 at Heritage Health in Bloomington.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
Jane was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in Normal, the daughter of A.D. and Lois (Patchett) Cline. She married Orval “Chub” Brandenburg on Aug. 14, 1960 in Normal. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 2002.
Surviving are three children, Kirk Brandenburg of Normal, Lisa (Alan) Edington of Bon Aqua, Tennessee and Eric Brandenburg of Normal; and one brother, A.D. Cline Jr. (Lynn), Goodyear Arizona.
Jane was a member of “The Rainbow Girls” and Eastern Star. She was a 1954 graduate of NCHS. Through the years Jane was employed at Chadband’s Jewelry, Jack Lewis Jewelry and The Normal Pharmacy.
She enjoyed boating and traveling with family and friends. Orval and Jane were members of the U.S. Power squadron. Their two favorite places for these activities were Lake Michigan and Kentucky Lake.
Jane was a great cook, famous for her Coconut Cream pies and Bread & Butter pickles that were a prized Christmas gift for the kid’s teachers in elementary school. Potato Salad was also a highly sought after treat, often available in large quantities for weddings and parties of friends and family. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially football and baseball.

Ruth P. Brown, 84 of Bloomington, passed away at 1:44 p.m. on Sept. 10 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Bloomington with Bishop James Nave officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be at Wiley Cemetery in Colfax. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1931 in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, a daughter to Ellis and Enola Kessinger Taylor. She married George Brown on Aug. 16, 1950 in Paxton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1987.
Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Mark) Slagel of Bloomington, Tim (Cheryl) Brown of Bloomington and Shawne (Jim) Wempen of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Jenny Kessinger, Loretta Quinn, Angie Brown, Tonia Elkins, Dallas Murphy, Creston Merrill and Jessi Rhodes; fifteen great grandchildren and one sister, Nora “Florence” Herald.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Ronnie and Karol; five brothers and one sister.
Ruth was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She was very involved in the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
