Maurice Elmo Jones, 86 of Bloomington, passed away on Aug. 30, at 5:45 a.m. at Martin Health Care, Bloomington.

Maurice’s service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Pastor Kathy King-Nobles and Pastor Don Jones officiating. Following the service burial will be held at the Smith Grove Cemetery, Towanda. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Westminster Foundation or Towanda Lions Club.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Maurice was born on Oct. 1, 1929 in Normal, the son of Elmo R.

and Velma Davidson Jones. He married Dorothy Schroeder on June 20, 1954 in Bloomington.

Maurice is survived by his wife Dorothy, twin sister: Maureen Jones Harris of Staunton, Va., nephews: Hunt Henderson of Towanda and Hunter Harris of Middlebrook Va., nieces: Margaret Harris Taylor of Glen Allen, Va. and Holly Lober of LeRoy, grandnephews: Heath Henderson, Hutch Henderson and Philip Taylor IV, grandnieces: Ryan Henderson and Alyson Taylor Mancini and also great grand nephews and nieces.

He is preceded by his parents, a sister Ellen Jones Henderson, a niece Nancy Harris and a nephew Paul Hunter Harris.

He was born and raised on the family farm near Towanda. He went to school at Smith Grove Elementary School, University High School class of 1947, Kemper Military Academy and attended Illinois Wesleyan University.  After serving in Marines Corp from 1952-1954 he came back to the farm and farmed for 58 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Normal, Towanda Lions Club, El Paso Masonic Lodge, Mohammed Shrine and the McLean County Farm Bureau.

Maurice always loved to travel and he and Dorothy had many wonderful trips including seeing family, farm tours and visiting State Capitals. After retirement they enjoyed taking cruises visiting many parts of the world.

Dorothy would like to thank the entire staff at Martin Health Center for such caring care the last year of his life.

Dorothy Ann Yoder, 82, of Forrest, died at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 30 at Piper City Rehab and Living Center, Piper City.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Forrest United Methodist Church, Forrest with Pastor Roosevelt Smith officiating.  Burial will take place in Strawn Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury; and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church in Forrest. The family suggests memorials be directed to Forrest United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Yoder was born Jan. 6, 1934 in Fairbury; the daughter of Harry and Cynthia (Busby) Kirchner.  She married Glen Yoder in Fairbury. He died on Aug. 23, 1984. Her Parents also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Mark (Tina) Yoder of Strawn; one grandson, Robert Yoder, also of Strawn; and one brother, Glen “Dick” Kirchner of Fairbury.

Dorothy graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing in Normal and began her career as a nurse at Fairbury Hospital and later BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. She was a member of the Forrest United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women and Forrest American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She was proud of her grandson and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
