CLINTON – There is frustration for Illinois State Senator Chapin Rose who is trying to keep the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant up and running.

However, Rose says the bill is being weighed down by too many other provisions.

“I wish at some level they just cut the nukes loose on the bill because I think we would probably be able to muster enough support to vote that bill out, but at this point it still has all those other moving parts,” said Rose.

Those other moving parts include environmental restrictions and a rate increase for Com Ed customers in the Chicago area.

The Clinton Nuclear Power plant and the Quad-Cities plant could start shutting down next year.

The job losses and loss of tax dollars has local officials worried.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
