Normal Community scored on seven of it’s first eight possessions, en route to a monster victory over Urbana. Senior Quarterback Grant Price saw limited action due to the score, but was still able to throw for one score and run for two more. Running back Steven Towns added one more score on the ground.

Bloomington 35, Peoria Manual 14

BHS jumped to a 14-0 first half lead and never looked back to give Coach Joe Walters a victory in his first game at the helm. Quarterback Colton Sandage threw for three touchdowns and ran for another. He completed 5 of 7 passes for 178 yards, while running back Cory Lockhart had 157 yards rushing on 11 carries. Lockhart scored the first BHS touchdown on a 56-yard run and he caught a 66-yard TD pass from Sandage to account for all of the Raiders’ first half points. BHS scored three TDs in third quarter on a 3-yard run by Sandage, a 43-yard pass from Sandage to Avonni Brown and a 32-yard pass to Avery Lyons.

Tri-Valley 28, Central Catholic 6

The Vikings rushed for over 300 yards and held Central Catholic to just under 40 yards at Bill Hundman Field in Bloomington. Tri-Valley senior Jared Nelson rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown, while senior Jake Sreiner added 70 yards and sophomore Evan Smith had 83 yards on 17 carries and a touchdown. Senior quarterback Aaron Kussman had a 24-yard touchdown run and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Shane Johnson.

Washington 49, University High 13

Washington jumped to a 28-6 halftime lead and was never threatened as Josh Schellenberg scored twice on runs of 2 and 54 yards. Garrett Frank also scored twice for the Panthers on a 36-yard reception and a 25-yard run. U High touchdowns came from Ty Ziebarth on a64-yard pass from quarterback Doug Holmes and a 55-yard run by Holmes, who completed 10 of 17 passes for 117 yards and one touchdown.

Peoria High 70, Normal West 63

The game of the night took us past 11 p.m. and saw several comeback attempts fall short for the Wildcats. Senior QB Peyton Dillingham threw seven touchdowns in his debut as West’s quarterback. Peoria’s Geno Hess ran all over the West defense, asmassing 579 rushing yards, coming just 14 yards shy of the IHSA record for rushing yards in a single game.
