EUREKA – The first American Opportunity Index has been released by Eureka College.
Eureka College president J. David Arnold said the college plans to release the survey annually.
“We have commissioned this survey as a measure of whether Americans feel that they have both the freedom and the opportunity to pursue their dreams,” Arnold said.
1,000 people were asked if they agreed or disagreed with seven statements and the composite score of the seven responses was 66 percent agreement.
“I would say Americans are extremely positive about their opportunity to pursue their dreams,” Arnold said. “They’re more divided when you look either forward or back: back to their parents and grandparents, forward to the next generation.”
Polling and research firm McLaughlin and Associates conducted the survey. The full report can be found online at www.eureka.edu/aoi.
