BLOOMINGTON – The winner of The American Heart Association and Four Seasons Health Club’s Lifestyle Change Award will be recognized at the McLean County Heart Walk on Saturday.

Communications Director for the American Heart Association Carrie Skogsberg said the award will be given to one member of the community who has displayed healthy behaviors that lower their risk of heart disease or stroke.

“We’ve actually narrowed it down to four finalists,” Skogsberg said. “Those finalists are up on the Four Seasons Facebook page, so you can go on there and read about them. We will then recognize the winner who the committee chose on Saturday.”

The committee will be made up of members of the American Heart Association and the Four Seasons Health Club. Skogsberg explained what else to expect at the event, which will be held in Uptown Normal.

“Community vendors will be there having heart healthy food,” said Skogsberg. “There will also be kids activities, fitness demonstrations and all kinds of information for how you can become heart healthy.”

A Fan Favorite Award will also be given out at Saturday’s walk to the nominee who receives the most likes, shares and comments on their Facebook photo.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
