He was born Sep. 20, 1937 in Bloomington, a son of Ray and Elsie Miller Hardesty.
Surviving are three children, Cindy (Darrell) Williams of Bloomington, Linda (Marvin Morris) Hardesty of Wapella and Chris (Jennifer) Hardesty of Stanford; seven grandchildren, Heather Brown, Tiffany (Frank) McGowan, Eric (Jess Anderson) Elder, Kyle (Natalie) Kingston, Travis Hardesty, Abigail Hardesty and Olivia Hardesty; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Cletus (Marilyn) Hardesty of LeRoy; four sisters, Wilma Garrison of Bloomington, Juanita (Joe) Rutledge of Heyworth, Rena Hodges and Dorothy Peasley, both of Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Lois Hardesty of Normal; and Dee Brunson, who was a special person in his life for over thirty years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hardesty; one sister; and four brothers.
Wayne was a longtime member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #1 and owned and operated Hardesty Heating and Ventilating. He enjoyed retirement which gave him the time to do the things he loved most: yard-work, woodworking, riding his John Deere Gator and spending time on his land. More than anything, Wayne valued all of the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
